The RedShad and Brian showed up at 830am and after looking over their bikes for them we took off to N. Denton to meet one of RedShad's riding buddies Doc.  We were going to head west to Jacksboro on 380, however an airplane crash or something had law enforcement blocking the road off just west of Denton.  Using my best of the bunch GPS we detoured around the area and got back on route.

It was windy from the North and cold to me and didn't really warm up the entire ride. We made it to Jacksboro and Acorn had to peepee so we found him a suitable Shell franchise. We didn't mind the small delay 'cause he was otherwise behaving himself astride the BB.

Hiway 4 out of Jacksboro on into Graford where we had lunch at the local and only cafe. Brian and me had a very good burger while RedShad and Doc had okra.

I have a habit of using the kickstand down to kill my bike and usually turn off and remove the key.  But the distraction of this fine bunch of riding partners caused me to skip step 2. Mounting up after lunch found my prized Voyager only tick ticking at the starter, we had talked way too long in the cafe and the battery was drained. I got the fatboys to push for awhile but the battery was too low to fire the engine.I walked around town trying to borrow some jumper cables, but only got suggestions as to who may have a set.  By the time I had hit about 3 suggestion points to no avail the battery had built up a little and we tried the push thing again. It kicked off this time and we were on our way.

We crossed over the Brazos out of Graford and the water was running clear and inviting but with the battery still low we declined the invite and keep the rpm's up on into Palo Pinto.  Man is it good and green everywhere.

RedShad and Doc were getting confused by the twist and turns of hwy 4 and by the time I got to Palo Pinto they were what you call way back there.  I made the little jiggle 4 to 380 to 4 with Acorn zooming around the area on the BB.  You see the suspension on the Voyager is acting up and I'm wobbling considerably in left hand curves.  Although the BB could have easily left me behind, Acorn sez he was hanging with me to spot the wrecker in when and if I lost it.  I like the wobble and it makes the ride more interesting than those on the bikes that hold the line - how do they stay awake...

After Brian and myself stopping 4 times to allow the stranglers to catch up we made it to Cleburne. Between Cleburne and Grandview we came up behind a Johnson County Deputy patrol car. The deputy was running about 5mph over the limit and I motioned for Acorn to pass it, just kidding of course.  The Walker came out in him and he got right on the bumper of the patrol car.  After a couple of miles the deputy was waving him off with the back off signal. Acorn just shifted to the left a little, looking like he was looking for a passing opportunity. After another mile the deputy turned on the overhead lights, thinking the rider of the BB must not see him, he is too close.  Meanwhile the rest of us were backing off, trying to disassociate ourselves from the Acorn on the BB, I mean we have no idea who he is. Coming into Grandview the deputy spotted a bumpy gravel road and hooked a quick, no signal, right turn trying to shake the BB, it was like a backwards pursuit.  Well the deputy was correct, Acorn doesn't do gravel and he was free.

We gathered at the Interstate35, kissed goodbye and headed North with the exception of RedShad's buddy 'Doc' who headed into Maypearl.  At hwy 67 in Alvarado Brian peeled off toward Dallas and the RedShad and I gunned it on into cowtown.

Windy with a lot of bad Good Friday traffic, about 300 to 400 miles, depending on where home base for us, and a good one.
