The Lone Star Rally Trip

Trip Report: November 3-4, 2007 -- Wing and a Prayer, the Christian blues/rock band I play electric bass for was asked to play for one of the CMA Sunday morning "church" services at the Lone Star Rally held in Galveston, Texas so I drove the Escort down to the Lone Star Rally as I had to take the bass concert rig.

The Lone Star Rally is a huge draw and this year close to 600,000 bikers attended. Wing and a Prayer was scheduled for the 9 am Sunday November 4th service on The Strand Avenue Plaza area adjacent to the CMA Hospitality tent. We started playing "wake up and get here" music at 8:30-8:45am. About 9:00am the service started with about 15 minutes of music followed by a message and ending with prayer and an altar call (usually with music). Following the service, we continued playing a couple of more tunes as the Lord directed.

The Lord moved and we saw some salvations and rededications that morning.

The trip to Galveston consisted almost entirely of travel down IH-45. The weather was very pleasant, calm, and sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Fuel mileage per fill-up for the Escort was 33.2 MPG and 36.1 MPG.
